Note from the Interprofessional Team NetWork Chair…

First, I would like to thank the steering committee for their efforts toward submitting four proposals for CHEST Annual Meeting 2020.

It is my goal for this year to encourage a social media presence for CHEST news and articles by use of hashtags via Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and Facebook. I would also like to promote a NetWork partnership to help develop a junior presence, specifically students, at CHEST in the near future.

We recently filled two open positions. Welcome to the steering committee, Dr. Mary Jo Farmer and Ms. Megan Llamas.

As a NetWork member, you're welcome to join your NetWork Steering Committee calls. If interested in joining an upcoming call, please contact Michelle Kosobucki and she will be happy to share access information.

Upcoming conference call dates and times are:

Tuesday, May 12, 2020, at 3-4 pm CT
Thursday, September 24, 2020, at 3-4 pm CT

It has been a fascinating journey of my personal and professional growth since I started my relationship with CHEST in 2013 as a fellow-in-training member. After completing my Pulmonary & Critical Care fellowship training at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center I decided to take the clinician educator pathway and joined Emory University School of Medicine.

In the last 7 years, I have never missed attending CHEST Annual Meeting, and my participation has become more and more profound due to the ever-expanding excellent learning and teaching opportunities offered by CHEST. CHEST provided me great educational resources, mentoring support, and several networking opportunities to advance my academic career. Currently, I serve on the Clinical Pulmonary Medicine and Interprofessional Team NetWork Steering Committees and serve as CHEST faculty for several simulation and cadaver-based training workshops for advanced pulmonary procedures at the CHEST Annual Meeting. Most recently, I was selected to serve as Vice-Chair of the Interprofessional Team NetWork Steering Committee. It is indeed my privilege to serve in this leadership role and collaborate with my member colleagues to further advance the NetWork’s mission to promote synergistic collaboration among all health-care professionals in order to enhance the care of patients with respiratory/cardiac disorders in a variety of settings with a focus on leadership, education, research, and communication.

I am truly thankful to CHEST for being instrumental in my personal and professional growth and providing me an opportunity to serve on a leadership role. I intend to follow the footsteps of several authentic CHEST leaders who have served with great dedication to create a purpose-driven organization and an inspiring culture of inclusiveness and creativity.
