The Pediatric Chest Medicine NetWork is actively involved in improving pediatric pulmonary involvement at CHEST. This is being done through increased member engagement, including regular contributions to CHEST Physician® publication, participation in session development for the annual meeting, and increased involvement in pediatric sleep medicine, with our focus on diversity and inclusion. Our goal is innovation, with a new pediatric curriculum for the annual meeting (eg, pediatric mechanical ventilation and transitional topics, including chronic diseases beginning in childhood and continuing into adulthood, eg, cystic fibrosis, asthma, sickle cell, etc).
We are actively involved in collaborations with other NetWorks to increase pediatric outreach and reflect that every adult network or disease spectrum has a pediatric component, which is essential for understanding disease and its management. We are also promoting interorganizational collaborations (eg, American Academy of Pediatrics). We actively encourage participation in CHEST Foundation programs in patient and physician education and foundation grant review and submissions.
The NetWork fellowship program continues to be very successful, with fellows having the opportunity to participate in NetWork Steering Committee meetings, connect with fellows from other NetWorks, present at CHEST Annual Meeting, and submit articles for CHEST Physician publication. The Pediatric Chest Medicine NetWork continues to see a large number of highly qualified applicants for its steering committee positions, and we encourage everyone to be actively involved in NetWork activities.
